Google+ Posts Now Appear in Google Search Results

Google has begun integrating Google+ into search results with public Google+ posts now appearing in Social Search.

Whenever a user publicly shares a link on Google+, an annotation will show up under that link when it appears in a friend’s search results. For example, if I share a Mashable article about Google+ eliminating pseudonyms publicly on my Google+ page, users who have added me to their circles will see a note that I shared that link if they stumble upon it in Google Search.

Google+ now joins Flickr, Twitter, Quora and Google Buzz as other inputs for Google’s Social Search product. Social Search debuted in 2009 at the Web 2.0 Summit, partly as a response to Bing’s integration with Facebook and Twitter. Social Search highlights what links your friends are sharing on the web and returns results it believes are relevant based on your friends’ interests.

Social Search integration is only the beginning for Google’s plans for combining its search engine and social network. Google intends to revive real-time search with Google+ data and will launch a search engine for Google+ posts. Of course, the tech giant did the same thing with Google Buzz, and we all know what happened to that product.

Do you think Google+ makes Google Search a better product? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Why I’m all Done with Google Chrome for Now

google gears I’m all done with Google Chrome. I want to think that the browser is so amazing, and I’ve used it fairly steadily for a while, but I’m frustrated as all get-out that GOOGLE gears doesn’t work with GOOGLE chrome. How silly is that? Oh, tres silly, my friends.

Google Gears allows you to do several things, include work in your browser while it’s offline. It’s a great application to have installed, if you don’t have it already.

But here’s the kicker:

It doesn't work on Google Chrome or Safari, at least on a Mac

Read the fine print. Yep.

So, I’m back to Firefox, in the “in case you cared what browser Chris Brogan uses” department news.

Chris Brogan is an eleven year veteran of social media using both web and mobile technologies to build digital relationships for businesses, organizations, and individuals.

Twitter’s @EarlyBird Soars: Launches with Disney

Prior to the July 4th Holiday, reports that Twitter would soon launch a dedicated stream for special and promotions hit the web. Today, Twitter announced that the @earlybird account takes flight and Disney goes along for the maiden voyage.

@earlybirdoffers Twitter-exclusive deals in entertainment, fashion, technology, beauty, travel and more. For a limited time, @earlybird and Disney Pictures will offer Twitter users a special “buy one, get one free” deal on tickets to “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” a new feature film from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films that opens in theaters today.

This is the second time Twitter has worked with Disney to launch new advertising initiatives. Last month, the interactive duo introduced the Promoted Trends concept with a Promoted Trend for the Walt Disney Pictures / Pixar Animation film “Toy Story 3.”

Mashable Readers Miss Being “Fans” on Facebook

In the good old days, Facebook users “became a fan” of their favorite teams, celebrities, objects, and personalities. A month and a half ago though, that all changed. Facebook Pages switched from “Become a Fan” to “Like” in order to lower the bar for users to engage and connect with brands.

The change hasn’t been the most popular one though, and that’s why it was the subject of this week’s Web Faceof, our continuous series where we ask you, the readers, to choose between two web apps or topics.

After five days and over 5,500 votes, it’s official…

Mashable readers miss the fan page! With 3,161 votes (57.3%), “Become a Fan” bested “Like,” which was only able to garner 1,634 votes (29.6%). A full 719 of you (13%) were indifferent on the matter.

Thanks for voting this week, and be sure to tune in next week, when we launch another edition of the Web Faceoff!

Which do you prefer: Facebook Like or Facebook Fan?customer surveys

Google Buzz Messes With Your Google Profile

My friend Marsha Collier pointed out something really important for you to know about, if you’re dabbling with Google Buzz. If you disable Google Buzz, Google cans your Google Profile.

So what the heck? That doesn’t sound useful.
